Corinne Dean Interview
Say hello to Corinne Dean! HELLO!
What is your favorite part about working in this medium?
I love seeing all this colorful felt, or embroidery thread in front of me, not sure yet what it will be. I really like working with these materials, until they become this idea, I was picturing in my head.
What is your background?
I have a BFA with an emphasis in sculpture from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, but I have been making things, and drawing as far back as I can remember. I knew I wanted to be an artist at 5 years old, and although the medium changes, I still keep making art.
Favorite crafty tool?
I would say a pencil, because no matter what I am making, its starts first as a drawing. But a pencil is not specifically crafty, so then I would have to say needle and thread, which is similar to drawing for me.
Favorite fall activity?
I cannot wait to get to a pumpkin patch with my kids and pick our pumpkins!

Did you have any inspiration behind the toys you are submitting for Plush You!?
Most of these items come from a sketch, somewhere in my sketchbook. I always have ideas for little characters, and sometimes even a story to go with them. I don’t always know or plan for it to be a plush toy, but I love when my 2-D drawing becomes a 3-D object! This Pixelated Forest group, I have been making for a few years, but just recently I added some new characters, the rainbow, I think, is my favorite!
