Marathon 1981 Interview
Say hello to Marathon 1981! She came out for the Plush You! show! It was so great to meet her!
What is your favorite part about working in this medium? I love the fantastic abundance of vintage fabrics that I come across and the excuse to showcase the wonderful projects patterns and colour mixes from past. I only use remnants that have never been used, so it's like giving life to some forgotten craft, and then giving it a face and arms and moody eyes ... it sends me over the moon!
What is your background? A maker by nature, love of plush since childhood and self taught sewer. I actually have half a science degree but I'm looking into fiber programs across Canada to become a pro of some kind.

Favorite crafty tool? Needle and thread.
Favorite fall activity? Going for a family walk on thanksgiving weekend, which in Canada is mid October when all the leaves are fabulous colours and smells.
Did you have any inspiration behind the toys you are submitting for Plush You!?
It sounds simple, but colours and shapes, even moods that I was toying with at the time have worked their way in to these pieces. Mammoth boy is having trouble at school with his mathematics and doesn't want to do his homework. Rab has an attitude about everyone and won't say why. Octa is slowly but surely going to conquer a small island nation.
