Meet Plush You! artist: Twinkie Chan

Twinkie Chan is a woman after my own heart.  Can't you see why?

Tell my readers a bit about yourself
Hi, I'm Twinkie Chan! I crochet yummy food-themed accessories to keep you and your stuff cozy. I hand-make unique items for my Etsy shop, but I also just launched my new mass-produced clothing & accessories line, "Yummy You! by Twinkie Chan,"  which is now available in various boutiques. I live in San Francisco, and I love buying yarn, drinking tea, eating snacks, and watching the CW.

What do you love most about making plush toys?
When I first started crocheting items to sell, I made a point of not making plush toys, because I wanted to make cute things for people to actually use and wear. However, now I really look forward to making plush for  art shows and special occasions. I like giving personalities to things that may not usually have a personality, like a tissue box cozy that looks like a cheeseburger-monster. It's kind of like sprinkling every day objects with magical monster dust!

Is this your full time job?
Yes! Designing fun stuff for Etsy, managing my crochet elves, and developing Yummy You! as a lifestyle brand definitely keeps me very busy!

What sites do you look at for inspiration?
I don't really go to sites specifically for inspiration. I'm on Tumblr quite a bit, but for some reason could never really get on the Pinterest train, although I try to remember to post my work there when I can. Aside from feeling inspired by whatever I'm eating or a trip to the grocery store or a local bakery, I am probably most inspired by Japanese street fashion, so Tumblr is definitely my go-to for that. I love happy colors, crazy patterns, and just having fun with what you wear.

Did you do anything fun for the summer?
No! And I'm in serious Disneyland withdrawal! I am definitely looking forward to my trip to Seattle for Plush You :).
