12Punt3 Interview

We haven't done a plush exclusive in a long while but it's starting back up and with the new site! I have been working with Marianne of 12Punt3 for year's now so I am so honored to have her be the first plush exclusive in 2011!  Enjoy this interview about her work and this special exclusive.

S-What was your inspiration behind this plush exclusive?

12Punt3- The idea behind 'The Wandering Bones' is that it had to be something completely different then 'The Oneyes' plush dolls that I usually design. This plush exclusive had to be a collectible toy with an affordable price tag. Those were the main guidelines that I had set myself. I like skulls and bones but I didn't want this toy to be creepy. So I started thinking about bones in a different way. To make a long story short my brainstorm ended with dogs and how they play with bones, carry them around, etc. That's how the idea of wandering bones was born.

S- What is your favorite aspect of making plush toys?

12Punt3- I am a control freak so for me it is fantastic being able to take an idea into production without having to send it to a third party. I can improvise and adjust the design untill the last stitch is made.

S- Who are some of your crafty hero's?

12Punt3- There is one real hero that has inspired me for many years. With her whimsical designs, her vision and her busy bee energy. I have admired her work for many years and I've seen her one woman business flourish and grow. The name of my crafty hero is Lynda Lye from Little Odd Forest.

S- Do you have any exciting plans for this year?

12Punt3- Well, this year is all about experiments and exploring new opportunities. This year I have given myself the freedom to see beyond plush design and try to translate my style into other non-plush media. Of course I will make new plush Oneyes but I will focus more on the creation of small unique series or one-of-a-kind collectible art dolls. Another plan that I am already working on is to make 'The Oneyes Shop' a unique gift shop for all things creepy and cute handmade by me and maybe even some other designers. S- Favorite craft tool?

12Punt3- My Apple computer! It all starts here... ideas that turn into plans, sketches that turn into designs and patterns, emails that turn into orders, contacts that create a network, etc. I can not do my work without it.
