Shopping with Schmancy
Schmancy is in downtown Seattle on 2nd ave. We are next door to The Moore Theater's box office, one block from Pike's Place Market.
A lot of the vinyl toys are packaged as blind assortment. This means nobody knows what's in the box until you open it...including me. Think Crackerjack's. It's a great way to buy something and still be surprised or buy something for a friend who likes a lot of everything or has everything. It's fun for the whole family...in a box.
You are welcome to do an exchange in store for store credit or an even exchange within 30 days of purchase as long as it's in the same condition it was in when purchased. We do not take back opened toys simply because you did not get the toy you wanted. Sorry. If you are in the store, we allow people to open boxes and exchange for the display if they like it better.
Depending on the size and weight of work I either ship using FedEx (larger boxes) or USPS. All orders will be shipped within 5 days of order unless it is a custom order. If you have special instructions for shipping upon order please leave a note, we are happy to accomodate.
We are able to do international shipping however please contact us for rates as it will depend on where you live and any other instructions.
Working with Schmancy
I am always excited to look at new work by artists, crafters and designers. The best way to present your work to me is in an email. I can't always take new work at the time but if I have your email I can keep it on file so when there is room, I can contact you. If you send an email please attach photos of your work and tell me a bit about yourself and your line. Including price points, where else you sell in the Seattle area and your blog or website.
I do ask that you look over my shop to see if your work makes sense for my shop before contacting me.
I ask some of my favorite plush maker's to make an exclusive toy that will be sold in Schmancy and ONLY Schmancy during it's existance. If you have an idea for a toy that you would like to make that you see being a good plush exclusive feel free to email me your proposal.
I stopped doing art shows at the beginning of 2011. Too much work, not enough time. However, I do love seeing new artists and trying to support them in any way I can. If you want to send me images of your art, I am happy to look and discuss them being on my walls. However, I no longer have art openings.
I love getting books in the mail and I LOVE craft books. I get a lot of books sent from publisher's and I am happy to either do a book review or an interview with you along with the review AND/OR a giveaway. If you do want to do a giveaway, please contact me in advance to arrange details.
I am always up for seeing new work. Feel free to send me an email with a link to your site and if I think it fits I am more than happy to feature you on my blog...it saves me one less day of searching for new items so thanks in advance.
Plush You! is an annual show I host at Schmancy. Plush You! started in 2005 as a way to showcase the awesome handmade toys I was seeing. I thought having an art show would help garner more attention to these amazing artists and help gain more respect for this medium as an art. In October of 2007, the book, Plush You: Loveable Misfits to Sew and Stuff, was released. Since then, Plush You! has been hosted at several other galleries in LA and SF. It continues to grow each year and I never really know how it might expand...that's kind of the exciting part of it too.
Plush You! opening reception will be on October 13th 2012. Applications open on March 1st 2012 and close March 30th.
To find out how to apply for next year, please sign up for my email.
Plush You! is taking a break from travel this year. I am always happy to discuss how this could happen in your hometown with the idea that it's not a promise that it will actually happen. Feel free to email me with ideas or a proposal.
